The goal of this video is to present graphic illustrations of complications during robotic prostatectomy. METHODS A multi-institutional collection of surgical videos were compiled. These videos illustrate obturator nerve injury, external iliac vein injury, dorsal vein bleeding, ureteral injury, rectal injury, anastomotic disruption, and weck clip erosion. Management techniques are illustrated where appropriate. RESULTS These videos show us how important it is early recognition of injuries and complications in Robotic Radical prostatectomy, as well as robotics management of these complications. CONCLUSIONS The same spectrum of complications inherent to open or laparoscopic surgery can occur with the robotic approach. Complications are not inherent to the robotic system, but may be surgeon or technique related. Early recognition and appropriate management are essential when these complications occur. © 2010 by American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetails Volume 183Issue 4SApril 2010Page: e185 Peer Review Report Advertisement Copyright & Permissions© 2010 by American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.MetricsAuthor Information Rene Sotelo Caracas, Venezuela More articles by this author Oswaldo Carmona Caracas, Venezuela More articles by this author Camilo Mejia Caracas, Venezuela More articles by this author Eugenio Di Grazia Caracas, Venezuela More articles by this author Vipul Patel Orlando, FL More articles by this author Kenneth Palmer Orlando, FL More articles by this author David Canes Burlington, MA More articles by this author Ronney Abaza Columbus, OH More articles by this author Ingolf Tuerk Boston, MA More articles by this author Paul Carpentier Moorselbaan, Belgium More articles by this author Alex Mottrie Moorselbaan, Belgium More articles by this author Alireza Moinzadeh Burlington, MA More articles by this author Expand All Advertisement Advertisement PDF downloadLoading ...
