Abstract

Modern vehicles equipped with driver assistance systems feel by sensors, can see by cameras and in future speak (by communication systems). The new technology of cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (C-ITS) enables communication between vehicles and traffic infrastructure. Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) using a connected-car technology can support safety-critical applications in Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems (C-ITS). Services and applications being mainly subjected to safety critical systems. In this paper, we discussed an alternative to support V2X communication instead of using WAVE/DSRC. We used flexible mix of cellular network, wifi and ZigBee, to offload cellular traffic and alleviate additional cost, Wi-Fi Direct is used as a subsidiary method to enable communication by using local links without the help of infrastructure. Zifbee is used for connecting road side sensors. Our proposed system provides connectivity and monitoring vehicles through a cellular network and with the usage of wifi, local data transmission is established.
