Abstract
This article presents a review of the early investigations of V.I. Vernadskiy and his influence on the systematic exploration for radioactive ores. Vernadskiy wrote in his early works: “We are approaching a turning point in the history of mankind, the likes of which have never been seen before. The time is coming when man will get hold of atomic energy - a source of power which will enable him to build his life as he pleases. … whether man will be able to benefit by it, by using it for good or for self-destruction.” Vernadskiy was the first to compile all the known data on radioactive minerals and rocks in the world. — C.E.
