Abstract

Electron micrographs of mitotic chromosomal fibers from Chinese hamster ovary cells resemble very closely published electron micrographs of chromatin from interphase nuclei. The mitotic fibers are composed of particles tandemly aligned along the fiber length, with short connecting strands between the particles. The average diameter of the particles or v-bodies is 89 Å.
