Abstract
This study examines its expansion mechanisms through modified path image schemastarting from the original meaning ‘V+shang’ phrase, based on cognitive theories such as original meaning, metaphor, metonymy, and path image schema theory. We differentiate this study from existing ones by dividing upward movement into original meaning and anti-upward movement into quasi-original meaning, and examining whether the result meaning and state meaning were specifically expanded in upward movement or anti-upward movement.
