Abstract
In this article, we examined how characteristics of verbs, objects, spatial environmental changes, and the background on the phenomena of the times influence ambiguity in the "V 上" structure. Focusing on the "V上O了" structure with ambiguity, it was classified into four main categories: direct contact meaning, goal realization meaning, completion meaning, and state meaning (starting and continuingmeaning), and examined howthe change in the "V上+O+了" structure occurs in ambiguity. The summary of the research is as follows. The persistence of the verb and the limitation of the object provide multiple possibilities on "V上+O+了" phrase as they work flexibly. Changes in the structure of ‘V上+O+了’ such as the location of ‘了’ and objects, and whether ‘了’ and objects are omitted, and addingmodifiers to objects, provide possibilities for the ambiguity of phrases.
