Abstract
The article contains an analysis of legal regulations pertaining to usage of body-worn cameras (BWCs) in Police as well as some other Polish law enforcement agencies, among others: municipal and city guards, Border Guard, Prison Authority. The analysis covers both universally binding legal instruments and governmental internal regulations. Following issues are presented in detail: the scope of authority of certain services to record events w BWCs, the obligation of law enforcement officers to record interventions using those devices, the period of storing the recordings depending on their content. It is highlighted that some aspects of using BWCs by the major Polish operator, i.e., the Police, are regulated in a somewhat incomplete or ununified manner. This refers to e.g. the period of storing the recording as well as to the obligation or the lack of such obligation to record interventions with a BWC that a law enforcement officer is equipped with.
