Abstract

Optical networks with Wavelength Division Multiplexing(WDM), especially Optical Packet Switching (OPS) networks, have attracted much attention in recent years. Based on the very limited buffering capability of OPS network, this paper introduces a novel algorithm called united weight round robin(UWRR) for scheduling multi-services in the network. Then a simulation testbed is proposed and implemented to evaluate the latency performance of this algorithm. Simulation results are shown that, compared with traditional scheduling algorithms, UWRR both guarantees the scheduling priority of high class traffic and latency performance of other low class ones.
