Abstract

In this paper, a compact CPW fed antenna with Ultra-wide band (UWB) behavior is presented. The MIMO antenna comprises of two unique unit cells placed orthogonal to each other. The Tree-shaped radiators provides wide range of frequencies that covers most of the UWB spectrum. Further, impedance bandwidth in proposed design is enhanced through podium-like ground plane which significantly increases the current path. In addition, a pair of slits are cut from upper end of ground structure to provide desired notch at WLAN band. The proposed design is of size 50×25 mm2. The impedance-bandwidth obtained from the proposed design is ranging from 2.7 to 13.5GHz with reflection coefficients S 11 , S 22 very less than -10dB. The gap between monopoles is provided to bring isolation as high as 22dB. The design also provides good diversity performance in terms of ECC, TARC and Diversity Gain. Simulation work has carried out in CST Microwave studio software and obtained results are in good agreement. The novel design and performance of MIMO antenna make it an unique and attractive candidate for UWB applications.
