Abstract

The paper presents the effect of interference on coexistence issue of Ultra Wide-Band (UWB) and World Wide Interoperability for Microwave Access (Wi-MAX) operating at 3.5 GHz. Even though the transmitting power of UWB is very small (-41.6dBm) as compared to Wi-Max (33 dBm), since both systems share same band of frequencies, there is possibility of interference. An attempt is made to find the probability of interference of single UWB transmitter in indoor environment on Wi-MAX receiverfor three cases, Viz:Varying distance by moving away UWB transmitter from Victim Wi-MAX receiver.Varying distance between Wi-MAX transmitter and Victim Wi-MAX receiver.Varying UWB transmitting power. The probability of interference of multiple UWB transmitters is also observed. To evaluate the interference effects of UWB on Wi-MAX, Spectrum Engineering Advanced Monte Carlo Analysis Tool (SEAMCAT) is used.
