Abstract

In this paper, new ultra-wideband (UWB) stopband frequency selective surfaces (FSSs) are proposed. The frequency band, over which a flat stopband is achieved, covers the entire UWB band. The proposed FSS constitutes with compact size unit cells sandwiched in between two dielectric substrates. In addition, the performance of the proposed FSS is stable over a wide range of incident angles for TE and TM polarizations. In order to avoid the interference with WLAN applications that share a part of the UWB band, a notched band is realized at 5.5 GHz. Providing good candidates for UWB applications and an optimized solution for integration with compact broadband circuits and as reflectors for UWB antennas.
