Abstract

AbstractThe optical properties of single crystals of lithium formate monohydrate have been studied between 5 and 10 eV by means of absorption and reflection techniques. The data, which show two peaks at 7.2 and 8.4 eV, are interpreted in terms of n → σ and π → π transitions whose energy, strength, and polarization are consistent with the electronic properties of HCOOLi and H2O molecules.
