Abstract

Abstract— Prismatic zinc‐oxide microtubes have been fabricated by vapor transport. Room‐temperature ultraviolet lasing action has been demonstrated in these microtube arrays. Because of the tubular laser action in the ZnO microtube, they can be used in generating doughnut beams to tweeze particles and to apply them in other novel applications. They may also be used as the building blocks to construct photonic devices, such as hollow fibers and photonic crystals.
