Abstract

The ultraviolet absorption spectrum of NFCl radicals isolated in a low-temperature argon matrix was obtained. The absorption spectrum extends from 300 to 400 nm with a maximum at 360 nm. It consists of several partially resolved bands with an average band separation of 340 ± 20 cm −1 and is assigned to a transition from the ground state to the first excited electronic state involving a progression in ν 2, the bending mode.
