Abstract
With global waste production rising, efficient waste management practices are crucial for environmental sustainability.Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers a promising solution, particularly in waste classification. By automating wasteclassification, AI can reduce the time and cost associated with traditional manual sorting while improving accuracyand reducing carbon emissions. This paper provides an overview of the potential of AI in waste classification andmanagement, including machine learning and deep learning algorithms such as Convolutional Neural Networks. Thepaper also emphasizes the importance of proper waste management for achieving carbon neutrality and how AI cancontribute to this goal by promoting recycling, composting, and circular economy principles. Finally, this paper presentsan experimental application of deep learning for garbage classification and suggests potential improvements based onthe results. Overall, this paper highlights the critical role of AI in waste management and its potential to revolutionizewaste classification and management while contributing to achieving carbon neutrality goals.
