Abstract
Attention is directed to a "minority within a minority," the population of deaf children from non-English-speaking homes. A description of an innovative approach to language intervention and parent education is outlined in this presentation. The focus is on enhancing the communication between two distinctly different linguistic situations of the deaf child who learns English at school and is exposed to Spanish at home. Sign language is considered to be a communicative bridge between the two language environments.
