Abstract

The scope of this paper is limited to the consideration of planned utilization of the water storage capacity available in the unconsolidated tertiary and quaternary alluviums of stream valleys, interior valleys, and coastal plains, with particular reference to conditions in Southern California. The objective of such utilization is to achieve maximum salvage at minimum cost of that portion of the water supply that now wastes to the ocean or is lost through evaporation and consumptive use by natural vegetation.
