Abstract
Many waste products cause harmful environmental problems. Due to plastic’s versatility and high demand in a wide range of uses, its environmental effect has increased to dangerous proportions. Traditional building materials usually use a lot of energy during production, which also has a negative impact on the environment. The use of various waste materials in the construction industry is required to address these environmental challenges. Utilizing waste materials in building appears to be the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution to this issue. However, this study has discussed further about the current practices of the uses of waste and recycled materials in the construction industry. This study aims to review the use of these waste materials to increase the properties of concrete, an eco-friendly concrete which can reduce environmental issues. The methodology in this study is qualitative review based on the literature review from accreditation journal sites. It explains that waste materials are used as resources in the manufacturing of concrete. It is concluded that, in the future, use of plastic waste and other construction materials will serve as a source for construction material.
