Abstract

This letter proposes a high spectral efficiency method for massive Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) packet transmission over a network, in which each packet is divided into a header and a data unit (DU). By dividing each DU further into two parts: the opportunistic-bits (OB) and conventional-bits, two DUs are grouped into a DU-pair, which shares the same OBs. By cutting off one OB in the transmission, time resources and power consumption can be reduced. As a result, bandwidth and power gain are obtained. Analytical results are confirmed by simulation and numerical results.
