Abstract

A novel acquisition scheme that utilizes multipaths to improve the acquisition performance is proposed for frequency-selective fading channels. The proposed acquisition scheme employs nonconsecutive search with joint triple-cell detection. The performance of the proposed acquisition scheme is analyzed in frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels, and compared with that of the conventional one. The proposed acquisition scheme is found to significantly outperform the conventional one. The effects of various channel parameters on the acquisition performance are also investigated.
