Utilization of Augmented Reality Technology in Independent Speech Therapy Applications

One of the uses of information technology is augmented reality technology in the health sector. Augmented reality is used in the development of applications that are used for speech therapy for children with autism or children with speech delays. The method used for the development of speech therapy applications is the extreme programming method. This method can adapt to the development of an application in a short time and quite a lot of changes. The stages in the extreme programming method include identifying system requirements, planning activities during system/application development, system development process, iteration for system improvement until the final iteration, and no more user feedback, system/application production, and system maintenance with data backup and system recovery. After testing the system, it was concluded that three iterations occurred during the development of the speech therapy application. The last test showed that the user accepted the speech therapy application with a percentage of 77,14%. The output of this research is an augmented reality-based speech therapy application that is useful for independent speech therapy for children with speech delays.

Development of Application for Early Intervention Speech Therapy in Children with Intellectual Disability

This study aims to describe the stages of the speech therapy application development process. This research produces an android application product that can be used in early intervention in speech therapy for children with intellectual disabilities. This development research is based on the development method of Gall, et al. (2007), and only carried out up to five stages, namely: 1) Research and information collecting (searching and collecting data), 2) Planning, 3) Develop preliminary form of product, 4) Preliminary field testing, 5) Main product revision. The data collection method in the form of a Likert scale was used in this study. Media validation was carried out by speech therapy content experts and media experts. The validation results from content experts obtained a score with a percentage of 88 percent and validation from media experts obtained a score of 93 percent. This indicates a very valid category, and this application is declared feasible and can be used. The results of the implementation for children with intellectual disabilities by giving a questionnaire obtained a percentage of 85 percent. Autism is a developmental disorder that attacks children mentally and causes difficulties in interacting with the social environment. Therapy that can be done to people with autism to deal with communication disorders is speech therapy. Application usage health or better known as mobile health is easy and fast to help users in accessing information about various health problems, one of which is child development or better known as an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) which was developed using augmented reality (AR) technology. The purpose of the study is to optimizing the marked-based tracking method to augmented reality technology for speech therapy tutorials for children with autism. The results obtained from this study are the SELPY application (Self Autism Therapy) mobile-based speech therapy for people with autism which is a product of the application of appropriate technology in the field of information technology, especially in the health sector. The marked-based tracking method has been successfully implemented in the development of speech therapy AR applications for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This is by the results of the tests that have been carried out, namely distance testing and angle testing. The most ideal distance to detect marker/image targets is 40cm to 50cm with a smartphone tilt angle of 200 to 300.

Virtual Reality-Supported Speech Therapy in Children with Developmental Language Disorder: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Digital technologies are increasingly explored as complementary tools in speech and language therapy for children with neurodevelopmental disorders. However, evidence on virtual reality-based interventions for children with developmental language disorder (DLD) remains limited. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a Virtual Reality Rehabilitation System (VRRS)-based language intervention combined with standard speech therapy in preschool children with DLD. Secondary objectives included assessing the feasibility, usability, and safety of the VRRS-integrated intervention. A randomized controlled pilot study was conducted in preschool children diagnosed with DLD. Participants were allocated to an experimental group receiving VRRS-based language intervention integrated with conventional therapy or to a control group receiving standard speech therapy alone. Both groups attended two 60 min sessions per week for six months. Clinical language outcomes were assessed at baseline (T0) and post-intervention (T1). Feasibility was evaluated through adherence and retention rates, usability through a therapist-completed questionnaire, and safety through monitoring of adverse events during sessions. All participants in the experimental group completed the intervention (100% retention). No adverse events were observed. Therapists reported good usability of the VRRS system, highlighting ease of exercise customization, intuitive monitoring of progress, and good integration into routine therapy. VRRS-based activities integrated into conventional speech therapy appear feasible, safe, and well accepted in preschool children with DLD. Further controlled studies with larger samples are needed to confirm these findings. ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT07438639).

Autism is a disorder of neurobehavioral development with the presence of barriers to brain nerve function related to motor, attention, social and communication functions. Children with autism have problems in the development of communication and interaction, therefore it is necessary to do speech therapy for children with autism. This research was conducted to find out the implementation of speech therapy for autistic children, the obstacles faced by speech therapists in carrying out speech therapy. This research method is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. Collecting data using interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of speech therapy has been going well. This can be seen from the implementation of speech therapy carried out optimally and as a team. Obstacles that occur during the process of implementing speech therapy are the length of time the child's parents provide observations and the obstacles come from children who are hyperactive, therapist time and an environment that is less supportive

Examining factors affecting parental satisfaction with speech therapy in children with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome

Objectives: This paper explores the relationship between speech therapy intensity and parent satisfaction with speech therapy (ST) in children with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome (P-MS), a rare genetic disorder.Methods: ST intensity (ST Dose [minutes per session]) × (ST Dose Frequency) × (ST Length [years]) and parent satisfaction (modified PSQ-18) with ST were measured by online questionnaire. Non-parametric correlation, partial correlation, and linear regression calculations were performed.Results: Significant correlations between ST Dose and parent satisfaction were observed in the subscales of Time Spent with ST (r = .36, p < .05) and Accessibility and Convenience (r = .40, p < .05) in children with P-MS controlling for child age. ST Dose was also a significant independent predictor of parent satisfaction with ST in specific subscales.Conclusion: Significant positive correlation and linear regression results indicate increases in ST Dose (minutes per session) represent a mechanism for increasing parent satisfaction with ST in children with P-MS.

THE USE OF VIRTUAL REALITY (VR) AND AUGMENTED REALITY (AR) TECHNOLOGIES IN THE FINANCIAL SECTOR

Рассматриваются особенности применения технологий VR (виртуальной реальности) и AR (дополненной реальности) организациями финансовой сферы. Определяется специфика технологий виртуальной и дополненной реальности. Последовательно представлена история их продвижения на рынки, отмечены наиболее яркие факты, результаты совершенствования в контексте технологического прогресса (Sensorama, head-mounted display, «Кинокарта Аспена», устройство Eye Tap, коммерческая система RB2, VR-консоль компании SEGA Games Co., очки Oculus Rift и др.). Отмечаются области и возможности их применения. Изучена степень проникновения технологий виртуальной и дополненной реальности в деятельность финансовых организаций. Указаны основные направления их применения: приведены конкретные примеры интеграции VR- и AR-технологий в работу финансовых организаций. Систематизированы такие цели применения AR- и VR-технологий в финансовой сфере, как упрощение получения и обработки информации клиентами посредством приема визуализации, сохранение безопасности, маркетинговые коммуникативные цели и др. В результате проведенного исследования обозначены тенденции использования технологий на финансовом рынке, выявлены возможности их развития и перспективы применения, факторы, сдерживающие их развитие, определены и систематизированы преимущества и недостатки как самих технологий, так и функционирования этих технологий в финансовой среде. В заключение сделан вывод о том, что применение VR- и AR-технологий позволит финансовым организациям укрепить свои конкурентные позиции на рынке, а клиентам финансовых организаций — создать собственную безопасную онлайн-среду, в которой они смогут управлять своими деньгами и инвестициями и совершать транзакции. The features of the use of VR (virtual reality) and AR (augmented reality) technologies by financial organizations are considered. The specifics of virtual and augmented reality technologies are determined. The history of their promotion to markets is presented in a coherent manner, highlighting key facts, the results of improvements in the context of technological advances (Sensorama, head-mounted display, Aspen’s Cinema Map, Eye Tap device, RB2 commercial system, VR-console of SEGA Games Co., glasses Oculus Rift and more). Areas and possibilities of their application are noted. The areas and possibilities of their application are highlighted. The degree of penetration of virtual and augmented reality technologies in the activities of financial institutions is explored. The main directions of their application are indicated: specific examples of integration of VR- and AR-technologies in the work of financial institutions are given. The goals of using AR and VR technologies in the financial sector, such as simplifying the receipt and processing of information by clients through the reception of visualization, maintaining security, marketing communication goals, etc., are systematized. As a result of the study, trends in the use of the technologies in the financial market are identified, opportunities for their development and prospects of application, factors that restrain their development are identified, the advantages and disadvantages of both the technologies themselves and the functioning of these technologies in the financial environment are identified and systematized. It is concluded that the use of VR and AR technologies will allow financial institutions to strengthen their competitive positions in the market, and let the clients of financial institutions create their own secure online environment in which they can manage their money and investments and make transactions.

T-BOT as an Effort to Overcome Speech Delay in Children

Speech is a developmental stage that begins in infancy. The speech stage must be considered as early as possible, because it can be used as a parameter or benchmark for the presence or absence of developmental disorders in children. Based on the results of the Observation and Research of Literature Studies conducted, speech delay or speech delay is a phenomenon that is often found in today's society, especially in the digital world as it is now. Based on the research obtained, parents (both father and mother) currently do not have quality time with their children because they are busy working and dominated by smartphones. Currently, there are many speech therapy practices, both opened independently by doctors and in hospitals. However, there are some parents who say that their children experience stress when they are brought to a therapy place because they feel threatened or afraid of the atmosphere in a therapy place that is foreign to them. There are studies that reveal that speech delay can also be done at home. The causes of speech delay are children who have too much screen time, are rarely invited to interact in two directions, and lack of stimulus from family or closest people.&#x0D; The purpose of making T-BOT or (Talking Robot) is as an effort to overcome and can be speech therapy for children from the age of 1.5 years by inputting various vocabulary, compound sentences consisting of 2 words, 3 words to 1 structured sentences. The existence of this T-BOT will be the first alternative for parents to help provide speech therapy for children at home and of course children do not feel pressured and feel more comfortable playing while practicing their speaking skills with the T-BOT. The output produced is in the form of a robot that provides information in the form of voice in Indonesian as the mother tongue of our country. The child's speech development will also be evaluated to see how effectively the T-BOT is working.

Embracing diversity: augmented reality application for inclusive university campus navigation

This academic paper explores the potential of Augmented Reality (AR) technology in enhancing university campus navigation experiences, focusing on catering to the needs of students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). We address the limitations of traditional campus navigation methods and introduce AR as a promising solution. We consider that the mission of a future-oriented university is to enable and facilitate access to higher education and advanced research opportunities focusing on becoming more inclusive. Throughout the literature review, we delve into the interactive nature of AR, its multisensory capabilities, and the importance of spatial registration. We also highlight the complexity of AR system architecture, emphasizing the role of hardware and software components, rendering engines, and tracking algorithms. The paper then explores the utility of AR in campus navigation, highlighting its potential to improve spatial awareness and enrich educational experiences. The methodology section outlines the research objectives, including understanding the adoption of AR in universities for orientation, exploring AR technologies and platforms, and defining critical characteristics of an AR application. Within the results and discussion section, we present findings related to the use of AR applications for campus navigation in future-oriented universities. While specific university-based implementations are limited, pioneers like MIT, Stanford, and Harvard will be watched for their potential adoption of AR technology as a core stream of their long-term academic leadership strategy. To argue their positive impact, we focused on exploring technologies and platforms for developing AR applications, encompassing modeling and computer vision, geospatial technologies, sensor technologies, machine learning, cloud computing, network technologies, and frameworks. Within the section dedicated to developing AR applications for students with ASD, we emphasize stakeholder engagement, technological selection, application development, user feedback, and continuous improvement. The paper concludes by proposing a sequence diagram illustrating the interaction between parties involved in developing and using an AR campus navigation application.

Speech development delay in autism spectrum disorder – the perspective of using the “Talk To Me” speech therapy application

Introduction and aim. The paper aims to present the prospects of using the „Talk To Me” application in the case of a child with this neurodevelopmental disorder. Description of the case. The subject of the study was a 53-month-old boy who did not communicate verbally, but behaved forcefully. A child underwent a speech therapy using the „Talk To Me” application for a period of 12 weeks. The scale of acquiring language skills in the field of communication competence was used to monitor the progress of therapy. In the analyzed period, a decrease in the score on the scale from 23 to 15 points was observed, which means a result indicating an improvement in the communication sphere. The use of a newly developed therapeutic tool was an important motivational factor and, in the opinion of the boy’s mother, significantly influenced the progress in therapy, which had not been observed before using a conventional approach. Conclusion. The „Talk To Me” application is a therapeutic tool with potential effectiveness in the case of speech delays in children with autism spectrum disorder, and it is also compatible with behavioral therapy, a widely used therapeutic method with proven effectiveness in autism spectrum disorder.

Trial of intensive compared with weekly speech therapy in preschool children.

Forty two preschool children referred to a speech therapy department were randomly allocated to receive intensive individual speech therapy or the more traditional once weekly approach. Boys and minority ethnic groups were referred most frequently. Speech therapy improved expression more than comprehension, as measured on Reynell scales. The mean improvements were 0.5 SDs (95% confidence intervals (CI) 0.3 to 0.7) and 0.3 (95% CI 0.1 to 0.5) respectively. There was a greater improvement in children receiving intensive compared with weekly therapy in the expression scores (0.8 SDs (95% CI 0.5 to 1.1) v 0.2 SDs (95% CI -0.1 to 0.5]. White and non-white children had similar improvements in comprehension scores but white children had greater improvement in expression scores (1.1 SDs v 0.3 SDs). This difference was seen in both therapy groups. Randomised trials are useful in the evaluation of speech therapy in children.

An AR Operation and Maintenance System for Data Center

This thesis proposes an operation and maintenance system based on Augmented Reality (AR) technology using in data center equipment room. It includes two subsystems: AR inspection, AR maintenance. The functions include data management during inspection and maintenance; intelligent guidance of inspection operations; all-round identification and display of equipment front-end and back-end data; data tracking and recording of the whole maintenance process; remote expert maintenance assist in real time. It effectively solves the practical problems of low efficiency in traditional operation and maintenance, missed inspection, and high labor costs in operation and maintenance. In addition, this thesis also describes a research case. A traditional operation and maintenance system without AR technology was developed to compare the user experience with the AR operation and maintenance system (AR-OM system). Through actual user feedback data, this thesis makes a detailed analysis of AR technology for data center inspection efficiency and user experience enhancement.

Conceptual model of learning based on the combined capabilities of augmented and virtual reality technologies with adaptive learning systems

The article is devoted to actual problem of using modern ICT tools to increase the level of efficiency of the educational process. The current state and relevance of the use of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies as an appropriate means of improving the educational process are considered. In particular, attention is paid to the potential of the combined capabilities of AR and VR technologies with adaptive learning systems. Insufficient elaboration of cross-use opportunities for achieving of efficiency of the educational process in state-of-the-art research has been identified. Based on analysis of latest publications and experience of using of augmented and virtual reality technologies, as well as the concept of adaptive learning, conceptual model of learning based on the combined capabilities of AR and VR technologies with adaptive learning systems has been designed. The use of VR and AR technologies as a special information environment is justified, which is applied in accordance with the identified dominant type of students' thinking. The prospects of using the proposed model in training process at educational institutions for the implementation and support of new teaching and learning strategies, as well as improving learning outcomes are determined by the example of such courses as “Algorithms and data structures”, “Computer graphics and three-dimensional modeling”, “Circuit Engineering”, “Computer Architecture”.

The Design of Augmented Reality (AR) Technology for Providing Information in Hostels

The purposes of this research were 1) to design augmented reality (AR) technology for hostels, especially an information-providing system, and 2) to explore the satisfaction of the hostel operators and hostel guests towards augmented reality (AR) technology for hostels. In this study, the participants were three hostel operators, 52 hostel guests, and three experts in AR technology design. The data collection procedure was divided into two stages: the design stage and the evaluation stage. During the design stage, data were collected from hostel operators, hostel guests, and experts using questionnaires and in-depth interviews. The focus areas of data collection included the needs for AR technology design, specific requirements for AR presentations, and suggestions for information needed to facilitate AR technology use in hostels. In the evaluation stage, experts assessed the application development forms for the AR technology. Furthermore, the satisfaction forms completed by hostel operators and guests were analyzed, focusing on both design and function satisfaction, alongside any suggestions they provided. The data were then analyzed by using mean (x̄), standard deviation (S.D.), and content analysis. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the AR technology for hostels was successfully designed as a facilitator to provide necessary information, and both hostel operators and hostel guests reported highly positive satisfaction. It should be noted that the study’s sample size was limited, and the research primarily relied on TikTok as the delivery platform. Research findings and recommendations for applying the research results and for further research are also discussed. It is hoped that these findings will provide useful information and guidelines for hostels and those who are interested in applying and using AR technology in their businesses and studies.

This study examines augmented reality, which imposes on the world around us virtual objects, characters, filters, or other effects through a special camera. Currently, augmented reality is considered potential for pedagogical programs and it is beginning to gain momentum and be actively used. The use of augmented reality technology opens up new opportunities that increase productivity and efficiency in various industries, improve communication and knowledge transfer and make distance learning more comfortable and realistic. However, the factor of reducing the cost of production or the educational process due to the introduction of augmented reality is not yet fully disclosed and requires a detailed analysis, part of which is conducted in this paper. The existing types of augmented, virtual and mixed reality technologies were analyzed, their comparison was made, the current place in the market was determined, as well as their influence and role in modern education. The paper presents examples of the use of augmented reality technology in various fields, including in production, which demonstrates a significant increase in efficiency and confirms the relevance. An overview of the premises and laboratories, which now use virtual and augmented reality technologies for the educational process. The article also describes the shortcomings of the educational process, which can be corrected by introducing augmented reality technology. The economic benefit of using augmented reality in the educational process on a real example was calculated, due to which the expediency of this implementation was proved. Elements of the educational process are considered, the replacement of which with augmented reality will make education cheaper, and this means more accessible. An example of markers used for an augmented reality application in the field of aircraft construction is given. The tendency of the application of augmented reality and use in the educational process for the next years is analyzed, the branches in which it can be applied are considered and the expediency of its use is confirmed.
