Abstract

The aim of the article is to illustrate the interdependence of reading and vocabulary acquisition with a further consideration of a number of approaches to making classroom reading more communicative, by integrating reading activities with other skills work. It also presents a variety of methods and strategies that encourage students’ active participation in reading activities and consequently aid with the development of communicative competences.
