Abstract

Background: Super-refractory status epilepticus (SRSE) is a medical emergency that treatment itself may be associated with morbidity or even mortality. Midazolam and thiopentone are commonly used anaesthetics in this condition. Since early reports of experience of using ketamine in SRSE nearly two decades ago, its role in clinical practice is still uncertain.
