Abstract

A modular external skeletal fixation system was used as an adjunct during massive panniculectomy to control the soft tissue mass. This stable frame construct was found to readily transmit force vectors to the suspended soft tissue and aid in exposure during pannus resection. This system seemed to offer a mechanical advantage over penetrating pins alone.
