Abstract

Due to their prominent properties, tubular permanent magnet linear motors are increasingly being employed in areas in which hydraulic and pneumatic actuators are traditionally used. In order to achieve the highest possible specific force, a method based on a programmed change of the phase angle is proposed. The proposed method takes the influence of the magnetic circuit saturation on the electromagnetic interaction and current form. Simulation results are obtained using the finite element method. This method of determining the phase angle can be applied to all machines with permanent magnets in which the saturation of the magnetic circuit is pronounced.
