Abstract

A 38-year-old woman with a history of Caesarean section was found to have a large defect in the lower uterine segment (LUS) on ultrasound examination at 12weeks’ gestation. The residual myometrium thickness (RMT) was thin (2.6mm) compared with the full LUS thickness beside the defect (9.0mm). Serial ultrasound examinations at 16, 23, and 33weeks revealed no significant change in RMT (2.8, 4.2, and 3.2mm, respectively). Repeat Caesarean section was performed during labour at 38weeks’ gestation, and no evidence of uterine scar dehiscence was found.
