Abstract

Background: Among transgender and nonbinary (TGNB) individuals assigned female at birth (AFAB), the vast majority retain their uterus. While many young TGNB individuals experience amenorrhea and suppression of estradiol following initiation of testosterone, irregular uterine bleeding and spotting may occur and cause distress or dysphoria. We sought to understand the significance and life impact of these symptoms.
