Abstract

The present study sought to evaluate the current context of hunting practices in the APA area of ​​Morros Garapenses, in order to identify the richness and composition of species exploited for meat consumption, for use in traditional medicine or captured for captive breeding (pets). The present study was developed in the Environmental Protection Area (APA) Morros Garapenses, located in the State of Maranhão. This research was carried out between the months of May 2022 and November 2022. The present study contributed significantly to the observation of the main uses of wild fauna, being able to identify that the determining reasons for the use of animals in many cases characterize hunting for subsistence.
