Abstract

The gut microbiota plays a key role in the immune response, in pathogens inhibition in addition to stimulating the central nervous system through neuroendocrine and immune systems. So, the inclusion of bacillus-based probiotics in the diet of laying hens promotes the stability of the microbiota, and improves digestibility and nutrient utilization, resulting in better productivity and egg quality. It also enables the synthesis and release of serotonin, promoting a feeling of well-being in laying hens and reducing their stress. The objective of the study was to determine the effect of GalliPro®MS supplementation in laying hens, in relation to productivity and egg quality indices, as well as their behavior. There was a improvement in egg production and a reduction of cracked and dirty eggs (P < 0.05). GalliPro®MS influenced significantly in the reduction of the agonistic behavior and aggressiveness as well as reduction of feather pecking and reduction of fights. There was also a reduction in mortality in the group that received the inclusion of the probiotic.
