Abstract

This research had the purpose of analyzing several studies related to the making of precast concrete blocks with the use of recycled aggregate, more specifically construction and demolition waste (CDW). The priority was the comparison between the different methods used so that, in a reasoned manner, current parameters for making pavers with recycled aggregates were found, facilitating the development of future studies. Although the research does not encompass all the existing literature on this subject, the articles studied serve as an information base for such purpose. The data collected showed results that, in general, do not meet the values stipulated by the Brazilian Standard (Norma Brasileira [NBR]) 9781 of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas [ABNT], 2013) when it comes to compressive strength, but allow us to analyze the influence of recycled aggregates on the properties of the blocks. It was possible to conclude that the recycled aggregate obtained from the concrete crushing has a great potential for use in the construction of pavers, presenting ecological and economic benefits, mainly for use in roads with less traffic, such as sidewalks and parks, and, in some cases, to gaining mechanical properties.
