Abstract

With an increasingly mobile society and the worldwide deployment and utilisation of wireless and mobile infrastructure, wireless and mobile network technologies can support many current and emerging e-healthcare applications. However, before wireless and mobile technologies can be used on a wide scale, there are many issues and challenges to be addressed. These include how to effectively manage the complexity of wireless and mobile networks in e-healthcare applications and best utilise the capabilities of diverse wireless and mobile technologies. In this paper, we examine how wireless and mobile technologies can be used in e-healthcare on a wide scale. In addition, we identify a large number of open issues and challenges to overcome and offer concluding remarks.
