Abstract

Objective To reduce the incidence of peritonitis in peritoneal dialysis patients by health education with WeChat. Methods A total of 35 patients with peritoneal dialysis in the control group were followed up by using the traditional telephone return mode in 2015. Another 35 patients with peritoneal dialysis in the observation group were followed up by using traditional telephone visits and WeChat interaction. WeChat platform personnel composition included clinicians, peritoneal dialysis specialist nurses, dietitians, patients and their families. On the WeChat platform, the administrator issued peritoneal dialysis related periodic health education knowledge, peritoneal dialysis patients changed the health behavior to avoided the risk factors of peritonitis was in accordance with the education guidance. Results After the stage of education guidance cycling, the incidence of peritonitis was significantly reduced from 1/61.4 to 1/70.6 peritoneal dialysis month. Conclusion Using WeChat phasic health education mode cycling with emphasis on health education to patients could improve the understanding of peritonitis in peritoneal dialysis patients, enhance the patient's self-management ability, and thus reduce the incidence of peritonitis.
