Abstract

This article (a) explains why teachers should use the Internet as a component of instruction, (b) identifies difficulties that at‐risk learners have using Internet resources, and (c) recommends use of Web‐based bookmarks as a strategy for linking Internet content to instruction. Through concrete examples, it describes how Web‐based bookmarks can be used to support reading instruction in kindergarten through eighth grade, and how they can provide structure and content for students with special needs. The article illustrates the value of Web‐based bookmarking as a tool for integrating technology with the classroom, increasing teacher collaboration, adopting a new pedagogy for information delivery, and promoting information literacy among all learners.
