Abstract

Purpose: Recent qualitative research suggests the utility of subject-focused visual and narrative methods to uncover the context in which sexual decision making is made. While past work using these methods has linked a specific sexual context to sexual risk taking in several populations (e.g., sex workers, MSM), similar research does not exist among young and emerging adults. The purpose of this pilot study was to assess feasibility of combining visual and narrative research methods to: (1) explore the within-individual construction and management of sexual context; (2) analyze how context influences perceptions of sexual safety and sexual risk.
