Abstract

This article arose from a project based on exploring the nature and value of interactive teaching with and without information and communications technology (ICT). It describes one facet of the project which involves developing an understanding of children's perceptions of learning in classroom settings. This was explored through interviews with pupils aged between 3 and 7 years. These interviews utilised video clips, selected by either the class teacher or the pupils, of lessons observed and analysed as part of the project. Data from group pupil interviews using video‐stimulated recall dialogues (VSRD) is an essential component of the project and the pupils who agreed to participate in these interviews are acknowledged as important partners in this research project.
