Abstract
Explores the possibilities of using the World Wide Web (WWW) for library user education and training with particular reference to existing sites of this type produced in the USA and relevant examples taken from other disciplines. Reviews the hypertext protocol, underlying the WWW, and its application to the creation of computer assisted learning (CAL) packages. Specific examples described include: the Research Center; Library Research at Cornell a hyper-text guide; Virtual Library Tutor; Wisconsin University at Parkside Library/Learning Center’s Information Literacy Programme; Paradigm Online Writing Assistant; Isaac Rosenberg’s Break of Day in the Trenches; Netskills’ TONIC; and The Hot Seat: Wacky Job Interview Game.
