Abstract

Organ transplantation is an accepted practice throughout the world that could save thousands of lives and improve the quality of life. Although the rate of organ donation and organ transplantation is different from country to country, the shortage of organ donation is a global problem. Designing appropriate interventions to promote organ donation card has seriously felt in the world. Meanwhile, theory-based interventions have high priority. Based on the results of various studies, theory of planned behavior that is one of the most common and applicable theories have a good fitness with organ donation. If practitioners have a good knowledge and skills for designing programs entitled the theory of planned behavior, undoubtedly will be made more effective interventions. This theory has focused on the triple structures of attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control to promote behavioral intention and behavior of individuals to receive the organ donation card. The main purpose of this paper is to show how the framework of planned behavior theory could promote the intention and behavior of organ donation.
