Abstract

Today our society is under increasing threat due to infectious diseases. The current pandemic is just a warning sign of this problem. With the spread of antibiotic resistance, there is a growing need to discover new, effective, antimicrobial drugs. Antimicrobial peptides are “medicines” of nature which may be able to fill the role of lost antibiotics. They can be used not only against bacteria, but also against viruses and fungi. These antimicrobials are produced likely in all living organisms.
