Abstract

Internet of Things technology is considered an intelligent technical method that deals with several things represented by sensors. It connects them to the Internet to send data between them without human intervention so that they react automatically to the presence of a specific event or thing in the geographical area covered by the Internet. Internet of Things is one of the fastest growing technologies in the world. What happened in the disaster in Derna city in the state of Libya due to rainwater floods and its passage through the valleys, causing the collapse of two dams in Derna. That led to great human and material damage. In this paper we studied possibility of using Internet of Things technology in the field of security and surveillance which is one of the challenges to reduce these disasters. We studied the possibility of covering the geographical area in which all the valleys heading to the city or the areas adjacent to the valleys are located on the Internet. We design deployment of smart devices in those areas to communicate with each other via Internet technology. Smart devices give information about the quantity of water, its level, speed, and height. Through Data Analysis, appropriate decision and response will be done. This study concluded that there is a possibility of using Internet of Things technology in the field of study and proposed a design for using this technology, which will ensure avoiding the occurrence of future disasters. KEY WORDS: Internet Of Things, Data Analysis, Disaster sensing monitoring.
