Abstract

The article is aimed at the Balanced Scorecard (further only BSC) concept as a means of strategic management applied in the Slovak mining industry. The main objective of paper in mining companies is to determine the current state of the use of BSC there and identify the reasons that prevent its use. Provided in it is a statistically documented application of BSC with the mining companies in Slovakia, as well as recommendations of implementation the concept for improving the quality of strategic management in this branch of national economy. To evaluate the questionnaire were used statistical methods and line graph that compares the development trends of individual indicators of the Balanced Scorecard. Substantial part of this contribution is devoted to a questionnaire-based survey and the data obtained in this branch, namely in the mining industry.
