Abstract

A new approach of using text as a meander line for size reduction of dipole antennas used in passive transponders for radio frequency identification (RFID) systems is proposed. Three different structures of text dipole antennas for 869 MHz RFID applications have been examined numerically using a finite element method simulator. The impedance matching and the radiation properties of the fabricated antennas are measured and the results are compared with the simulated values.
