Abstract

Requirement changes during software development have been observed to occur in certain patterns thereby impacting the project behavior. Here we take the help of a case study to understand how a specific pattern of requirement change influences project dynamics. By using system dynamics modeling we then investigate the impact of different resource management strategies on project quality assurance activity under the given requirement change pattern. Results indicate variations in quality metrics like error generation, error detection, quality assurance effort, etc depending upon how the different resource management policies impact the project dynamics under the given situation. Findings are expected to assist project managers in deciding on the workforce augmentation plan that favorably satisfies both organization's objectives and users' quality requirements.
