Abstract

This paper discusses the possibility of using signal processors for automatic digital processing of video images in real time. A technique is proposed for estimating the throughput of the parallel signal processors needed to ensure real-time processing. Using typical examples, it is demonstrated that existing signal processors have inadequate throughput, which can be increased by creating specialized and multiprocessor systems. © 2005 Optical Society of America
