Abstract
The effect of passive iron converters was investigated at energies of 20–140MeV. An enhanced detection efficiency for neutron energies above 70MeV was found using iron converters of 2–3cm thickness. The experimental findings will be implemented in a high-efficiency large-area detector for neutrons in the energy range 100–200MeV at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory.
