Abstract
Mobile technologies such as cell phones provide opportunities to reach people in the contexts of their daily lives with health-promoting messages. Mobile health applications (mHealth apps) can also be used to increase access to health information by making it readily available to women in their homes and communities ( Connor et al., 2018 Connor K. Wambach K. Baird M.B. Descriptive, qualitative study of women who use mobile health applications to obtain perinatal health information. Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, & Neonatal Nursing. 2018; 47: 728-737https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jogn.2018.04.138 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF Scopus (7) Google Scholar ). In particular, for women who juggle many roles and responsibilities, these applications provide information and reminders between health care visits. mHealth apps can be especially beneficial to members of marginalized groups who face barriers to health care; these groups include women who are older and/or with chronic health conditions, economically disadvantaged individuals, adolescents, differently abled individuals, and those with limited English proficiency.
