Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the effectiveness of Mind Mapping Technique to improve reading analytical exposition skills of grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Kulawi. This research used quasi experimental research design, namely the pre-test-post-test non-equivalent group design. The research population was grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Kulawi. The sample of this research was selected using random sampling technique. The sample was 35 students of Class XI MIA as the experimental group and 36 students of Class XI IS 1 as the control group. In collecting the data, the researcher used observation and test. The result of observation was analyzed descriptively while the tests were analyzed statistically. By applying 0.05 level of significance and 69 (35+36-2) degree of freedom (df), the researcher found that the t-test value (5.175) is higher than the t-table value (1.7). It means that mind mapping technique can improve reading analytical exposition skills of grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Kulawi. Keywords: Mind Mapping; Improve; Reading; Analytical Exposition
