Abstract

Treating ventilated patients within 72 hours of the diagnosis of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) with prolonged low dose methylprednisolone leads to a more rapid improvement in lung function and may reduce the duration of mechanical ventilation and ICU stay.
