Abstract

• Postoperative cognitive dysfunction is observed in 25–40% of elderly patients. • Researchers explored the role of use of intraoperative intravenous methylene blue to reduce postoperative cognitive disorders. • This should be explored separately for different type of surgeries. • Duration of surgery, intraoperative opioids, mechanical ventilation and blood transfusion should be compared.
