Abstract

Gravity anomaly data can be used to correct the drifting error in the inertial navigation where the errors are accumulated over time. A simulation calculation in a specific area has been carried out by using a 2' × 2' gravity anomaly database in combination with the Kalman filters. A new method of gain coefficients and information update sequences has been applied to the process of Kalman filters in the simulation. Our results showed that gravity anomaly data can be used to aid submarine navigation in the area where the amplitude of gravity anomaly is relatively large.
