Abstract

The number of women requesting genital enhancement treatments is steadily increasing. One popular and effective method of vaginal rejuvenation is the use of dermal fillers to plump the labia majora. This procedure, sometimes called the ‘labial puff’, uses hyaluronic acid products to plump the area, reducing the signs of ageing skin. Women who express an interest in this treatment should be given a full understanding of the procedure, how it works and the realistic outcomes. This article aims to bring attention to this treatment option and highlights areas for improvement to deliver a more patient-friendly approach, as well as to assist the practitioner in improving their technique. The advantages and disadvantages of injecting dermal fillers into this delicate area are explored. This treatment has potential to improve women's confidence and sexual wellbeing, and should therefore be considered as a possible treatment option for women presenting with concerns in this area.
